Guaranteed Transport Service Policies: Breakdown, Layover  & Detention Pay

Breakdown Pay

Pay to the driver when the fleet vehicle is temporarily out of service for repairs. Breakdown is paid at $175 per every 24 hours down, paid in full day ($175/24 hours) OR half day ($87.50/12 hours) increments.

Breakdown Policy

To be eligible for Breakdown pay, the following conditions must apply:

  • The need for service was caused by conditions beyond the Driver’s control.
  • The time of service must coincide with the Driver’s regular work schedule.
  • The Driver’s equipment must be down for a minimum 14 hours measured from the time the breakdown is registered with the maintenance department.
  • The Driver has no access to an acceptable spare truck. Refusal to accept a spare truck will disqualify the Driver from breakdown pay.
  • Driver must submit the request for breakdown pay at time of breakdown.

The following information is required to submit a Breakdown Pay Request:

  1. Driver Name
  2. Truck Number
  3. Tank Number
  4. Breakdown Description
  5. Total Days Requested (Full or Half-Day Increments Only)

Driver will receive breakdown pay approval from Management within 24 hours.

Layover Pay

Pay to the driver receives while they’re waiting on a new load assignment. Layover pay is as follows: 24 hours without a load or driver has been waiting for a load without moving is entitled for layover pay which is $150.

Layover Policy

To be eligible for Layover pay, the following conditions must apply:

  • The layover was caused by conditions beyond the Driver’s control.
  • The time of layover must coincide with the Driver’s regular work schedule.
  • The Driver must not refuse a load.
  • Driver must submit the request for layover pay at time of layover.

The following information is required to submit a Layover Pay Request:

  1. Driver Name
  2. Load Number
  3. Layover Description
  4. Total Days Requested (Full Day Increments Only)

Driver will receive layover pay approval from Management within 24 hours.

Detention Pay

Pay to the Driver when the fleet vehicle is temporarily unavailable for dispatch due to a shipper/receiver-imposed delay. Detention is paid at $25 per hour after the first two hours and a maximum of $150 per day.

Detention Policy

To be eligible for Detention pay, the following conditions must apply:

  • Driver must arrive on time for appointment on both the shipper and receiver’s side.
  • Driver’s time must be logged correctly upon arrival and departure.
  • Detention pay will begin after two hours on both the shipper and receiver‘s side.
  • Driver must request detention pay at time of detention.

The following information is required to submit a Detention Pay Request:

  1. Load Number
  2. Stop
  3. Truck Number
  4. Tank Number
  5. Reason for Detention / Delay
  6. Total Hours Requested

Driver will then receive an approval from Management within 24 hours.
